The Vologne is a Rivière of Lorraine born between the Hohneck and the Col of Schlucht, with the fountain of the Duchess. This source is located on the field of the Jardin of altitude of Haut-Chitelet, in the Massif of the Vosges.

Geography

Vologne crosses the lakes of Retournemer and Longemer before receiving Jamagne, outfall of the lake of Gérardmer. It sprinkles Barn-on-Vologne, receives Corbeline, the Neuné - in the south of Bruyères - and Bored it, crosses Docelles then joined the the Moselle to Jarménil, ten kilometers upstream of Épinal. Its length is of 50 km and its basin is of 369 km ².

Hydrology

Vologne is a very abundant river, following the example its close relations neighbors of the area of the the Vosges. Its flow was observed over one 39 years period (1969-2007), with Cheniménil, locality of the department of the the Vosges located little before its confluence with the the Moselle. The catchment area of the river is there of 355 km ² (either almost the totality of the catchment area which makes 369 km ²).

All these values are about the fifth of those of the Meurthe and thus comparable, by taking account of the respective extent of their catchment area. It also comes out from that the risings of April 1983 of which it was question higher, were of order cinquantennal, i.e. raw occurring only twice per century.

Vologne is a very abundant river in spite of the relative exiguity of its basin. It is fed by very abundant precipitations they also in the Vosgean area. The Lame of water past in its catchment area is of 868 millimetres annually, which is extremely high, nearly three times superior to the overall average of France, and close to the double of the totality of the French basin of the the Moselle (445 millimetres with Hauconcourt). Tourism

The higher valley of Vologne is a high place of Vosgean tourism . One visits there, in addition to the lakes, the cascade of the Saut of the Tanks on an old glacial bolt and the Pont of the Fairies builds in 1763.

Although it is about a cultural catastrophe, economic and social, it quasi disappearance of Vosgean textile industry made it possible Vologne (in particular) to see the quality of its water improving during the last years. The density of its settlement in Truite S was worth to him to be selected to accommodate some sleeves of the championship of the world of Pêche to the fly in July 2002 (organized by the France under the aegis of the French federation of the fishermen to the fly and the throw).

The name of the river was sadly celebrates in the Années 1980 like initial theater of the Affaire Grégory.
