Volition, Inc. is a company of development of video games for consoles and Windows. The head office is based with Champaign (Illinois). The company was created when Parallax Software (developers of the successful series Descent ) was divided into two. Other half will become Outrage Entertainment (which closed in July 2003), which will develop Descent 3 and Alter Echo .
With the editor Interplay Entertainment, Volition, Inc. developed the series of simulation of space combat FreeSpace . Interplay knew then economic vexations, and THQ repurchased Volition, Inc. in 2000.
