Voice of North

Voix of North is the name given to the one of the movement of resistant French of the occupied Northern zone during the Second world war.

Organized around a newspaper, the Voice of North, it tries to federate the various groups of resistance of the closed Area. Jules Noutour, police officer and trade unionist inhabitant of Lille, is the principal instigator of this movement. With him, a group of men of different backgrounds constitute the core of Voix of the North , among which the former social catholic mayor of Bailleul, Natalis Dumez, Georges Vankemmel, pharmacist with Armentières, Rene Decock, Lionel Al, Jules Houcke, Albert van Volput. The network will make appear 66 clandestine numbers of its clandestine newspaper , of April 1941 with the September 5th 1944. Pierre Houriez, chief of a network of escape and Jean-Pierre Deshayes, sent by London, are the principal persons in charge of his diffusion.
