In France, the vocational school is an establishment of secondary education which offers a teaching in relation to the trade S of the Entreprise S, in order to acquire competences, knowledge and know-how in a professional field. Its goal is professional insertion.
Certain vocational schools are called “colleges of the trades”. The college of the trades is an establishment whose identity is drawn up around a homogeneous whole of trades of the same professional sector (trades of the sale, hotel trade, car…), of similar trades (clothing, textile industry, textile art and mode…) or complementary (trades of the sea). It has the effect of proposing formations with the public ones with the different statutes: pupils, apprentices or trainees.

The teachers of the LP belong very mainly to the body of the Professors of vocational school (PLP). The professors certified of Documentation (documentalists), and the professors of EPS can be affected there under the articles. There are sometimes also certified professors in particular of technical disciplines and exceptionally some professors aggregate S.
The LP are directed by one (E) Proviseur (R) sometimes assisted of an assistant and a Chef of Work, charged with managing teaching professionals.
