Vocalic quantity
It is about the length or duration of a Voyelle. Indeed, a vowel can be short or long; many languages, in particular the Latin traditional and the old Greek , make use of this disctinction in their Phonologie.
The vocalic quantity is generally marked in Philologie by a sign Diacritique indicating if the vowel is short (Ăă) or long (Ā, ā).
