Voždovac
Voždovac , in Serb Cyrillic Вождовац, is a municipality of Serbia located in the district of Belgrade. It belongs to the 10 urban municipalities which compose the town of Belgrade itself. In 2002, it counted 151.768 inhabitants.
The name of Voždovac comes from the vožd term, appointing the “chief”, title which was given to Karageorges, the chief of the First Serb revolt against the Turks. Karageorges ordered with the troops which released Belgrade in 1806. A church was built at the precise place from which forwarding left.
