Voïvodie de Łódź

The Voïvodie de Łódź (in Polish Województwo łódzkie ) is one of the 16 administrative areas (Voïvodie S) of the Poland. Łódź is the chief town of the voïvodie.

The voïvodie was creates on January 1st 1999 old voïvodies of Łódź, Sieradz, Piotrków Trybunalski, Skierniewice and of part of old the voïvodie of Płock, following a law of 1998 reorganizing the administrative cutting of the country. It is divided into 24 districts ( powiats ) including 3 cities having of the rights of district, and 177 communes. The name of the voïvodie refers to the most important city of the area.

The voïvodie has a Superficie of 18.219 km2 and counts 2.597.094 inhabitants (at December 31st, 2003).

The voïvodie is located in the center-south of Poland.
