Vliet

The Vliet is a Rivière Dutchwoman of the Holland-Southerner, located at the south of Leyde and the east of the communes of Voorschoten and Leidschendam-Voorburg.

With the the Middle Ages, Vliet belonged to important the inland waterway between the Vieux the Rhine with Leyde and the Meuse (or Merwede) with Rotterdam. Nowadays, Vliet is entirely channeled; the river is part from now on of the way of the Canal of the Rhine in Schie.

The Channel of Corbulo or Fossa Corbulonis , a channel dug with the 1st century by the Roman army along the Files Leyde - Naaldwijk, follows the course of Vliet.
