Viviparous Lizard

The viviparous lizard ( Zootoca will vivipara syn Lacerta will vivipara ) is small a Lézard which measures to the maximum 7 cm of the muzzle to the Cloaque.

It is a lizard which occupies a surface of extremely wide distribution in Europe and in Asia of the Ireland in the east of the Siberia. In north one can meet it beyond the polar circle, in the south the the Pyrenees the the Alps, the Balkans, the south of the the Ural and the north of the Mongolia forms the limits of them. It is a species living on the ground in various mediums but whose water is never absent: undergrowth, peat bogs, ditches and mediums a little stonier in altitude.

The head is small, the neck and the tail is thick, the rather short legs, the color is brown, very variable, with especially in the females of the dark edge lines.

As its name indicates it, the females put at the world entirely trained young people, they are in fact Ovovivipare S but the populations of the the Pyrenees frequently lay eggs.

  • Convention of Bern of September 19th, 1979:

    • Appendix 3: Any exploitation of the wildlife enumerated with appendix III is regulated so as to maintain the existence of these populations out of danger. These measurements include in particular: a) institution of periods of closing and/or other lawful measurements of exploitation; b) the temporary or local prohibition of the exploitation, if it is necessary, in order to allow the existing populations to find a satisfactory level; c) regulation, if it is necessary, of the sale, detention, transport or the offer for purposes of sale of the wild animals, alive or dead.
