Vivaqua

History

Formed in 1891 following work gigantic, the Co (for Inter-commune Company of Water) is the resultant for the management of the comprehensive policy of water supply of the Agglomération of Brussels.

Although bearing a “name of Brussels”, the C.I.B.E draws its principal requirement in Wallonia and that as of its creation. Thus the C.I.B.E amalgamated in 1946 with the Company of the Pyrite Mines of Vedrin. Vedrin is currently the most important collecting (pumping station and of water filtering) of Vivaqua.

In 1995, Vivaqua is the first inter-commune one and company of the public sector to obtain certification ISO 9000. Thereafter it was the laboratory which was accredited according to the standard INTO 45001, in 2002 the same laboratory was also accredited according to the standard ISO 17025.

Activities

The principal activities of Vivaqua are shared in 3 great groups:

  1. the “production” of water, is obviously the principal function of this inter-commune, as referred to above it draws its resources in 27 great sites distributed on 6 provinces and 6 water tables. Provided water is pumped various manners: with emergence, by gallery, by well, mines and rivers or career;
  2. the control of water quality and the services there associated, is certainly a critical activity of the company. Indeed via a laboratory located at Brussels, it guarantees quality with the authorities, the customers and the public which distributed water is in conformity with the established standards;
  3. the performance of service, such as its presence in the cleansing of waste water or purification;

Vulgarly known as, Vivaqua is present in all the activities concerning the cycle of water, including/understanding the study as well as the treatment or storage (and well of other). Thus more than 400.000 Cubic meter is provided to more than 2 million inhabitants daily.
