Vittorio Adorni
Vittorio Adorni (born the November 14th 1937 with Parma -) is a former Italian racing cyclist, who was professional of 1962 with 1970.
Biography
Honest truck driver, Vittorio Adorni, was before all a good team-member, an invaluable second before becoming a champion with whole share. Second of Giro in 1963, second of the Championship of the world in 1964, it manages nevertheless to gain Giro in 1965. In 1968, it is classified second of Giro, behind its leader, the Belgian Eddy Merckx… This one will be able, at the proper time, to remember it to thank its faithful team-member
Always in 1968, the Championship of the world is held on the road racing set of Imola. Party alone with 93 kilometers of the arrival, Vittorio Adorni profits, as it should be, of the protection of its Italian compatriots to the back but also, and especially, of the benevolent neutrality of Eddy Merckx, which does not feel curiously the force to roll behind this one day old adversary, but also its lieutenant of the every day. On arrival, Vittorio Adorni precedes the group resigned of almost 10 minutes. Its day of glory.

For its many victories - 60 professional victories - including 11 stages of the Turn of Italy, the Turn of Italy 1965, the championship of the world in 1968, the Turn of Switzerland and the championship of Italy 1969, but especially for its immense class, Vittorio Adorni is regarded as one of the largest Italian champions cycles.

Reconversion
After his brilliant sporting career, Vittorio Adorni also knew to express all his talent and his competence, during several years, as a commentator of the cycle races for the SPOKE, Italian television. Natural elegance which had done of it one of the most admired runners of its time until the revelation of the objectivity of its judgment and its capacity of synthesis, the trajectory of the reconversion of the Italian champion constituted a course without fault.
Recognized ambassador of the world of cycling and the sport in general, Vittorio Adorni is the Past-President of the Panathlon Club International . The President current of Panathlon International is Enrico Prandi which also sits in the Cultural Commission of the International Olympic committee .
Vittorio Adorni was appointed president of the Council of professional cycling to succeed Hein Verbruggen and was also co-opted like member of the Management Committee of the international Union cyclist (UCI) at his meeting of the October 11th 2001, to preserve the essential bond between the two authorities.
