Vitis riparia

Vitis ruparia is a Arbrisseau sarmentous of the family of the Vitacées, previously called Ampélidacées cultivated for its Fruit S in bunches. She can reach great heights from 10 to 20 m thanks to her long branches. It is the American vine of which the geographical distribution is extended, one as well finds it in the south of the Canada as to Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Many crossings were carried out with American species ( Vitis rupestris , Vitis berlandieri ,…) to obtain Understock S or hybrid. Certain hybrids are the subject still of an important culture:
