Vitis labrusca

Vitis labrusca is a Arbrisseau sarmentous of the family of the Vitacées, previously called Ampélidacées cultivated for its Fruit S in bunches. Its grapes have a foxé taste. Its branches never carry gimlets continuous or subcontinues, but regularly intermittent as at other Vitis.

There exists about it many variety S cultivated called Cépage S. most known are:

  • Concord - most widespread (estimate: 80% of the production of V. labrusca)

  • Catawba
  • Delaware
  • the Niagara

Synonyms

Vitis labrusca is known under the names American vine or Isabelle vine like under the names of black fox, fox bunch, frost bunch, nothern fox bunch, nothern muscadine, plum bunch, skunk grapeswamp bunch.
