When the trade does not constitute any more one speculation on the remains of the national debt, when the public credit is not subjected any more to these alarming variations, when the operations of the government are not subordinated any more to the imperative needs for the moment. The traders who have order and economy will take again their advantage, the trade will be a science which will have to be known and the fortune which was too a long time the price of the intrigue will become the reward of work. At this point in time one will realize need to be informed and how much the number of good traders was reduced, the institutions which can form them will become more necessary.

It is in the spirit of this text that on October 1st 1819, with Jean-Baptiste Say, it founded the first establishment higher than the world, especially dedicated to teaching with the techniques of the trade under the name of Special École of Trade and of Industry and who became ESCP-EAP thereafter.
