Biography
First years
Vital-Joachim Chamorin, that his/her parents intend to become notary, prefers to engage with the service the December 23rd 1788 as voluntary Soldat enlisted with the regiment of regiment of Champagne - Infantry (7th of the weapon to the organization of 1791), become, 7th of infantry. He is initially corporal with the armies of the South (1792), then of Italy (1793) and of the Eastern Pyrenees (1793 - 1794).He was the September 27th 1792 with the catch of Nice, and the February 14th 1793 with the Combat of Saspello. This delicate mission which lasted since the 9 germinal one until the 1st floréal year IV had a satisfactory and peaceful result. On his return to Lyon, the chief of its half-brigade entrusted to him the command of pomegranates of the 2nd battalion. 11 followed soon after the movement of the troops directed on the Armée with Italy, and of year IV at year IX it took part in all the operations which announced this time. Temporarily named major on the battle field by the general-in-chief Brown, and attached to the 11th regiment of hussards, while continuing its service of assistance-of-camp, it followed the Watrin general to the isle of Elba, when this general officer went to take the command of it. The English operated a descent in the Baie of Bagnaja the 11 floréal year IX. The commander Chamorin pushed back them vigorously; but, pulled by its heat, the runaways forced it to mount on one their launches. End of a career
Confirmed in its rank of major the 1st nivôse year X, it accompanied Watrin with Saint-Domingue. After the death of this general it returned in France to the end of the year 1802 and was placed, the 2 pluviôse year XII, as major in the 3rd regiment of cuirassiers. It belonged to the Armée with the coasts with the Ocean, where it accepted, the 20 meadow following, the decoration of the Légion of honor.Passed with its rank the 18 fructidor year XIII in pomegranates with horse of the imperial guard, it reads the campaigns of year XIV with 1807 in Austria, Prussia and Poland. With Austerlitz (December 2nd 1805), it seized a Russian convoy whose it sabred and dispersed the escort. It charges in particular at the time of the great fray of Krenowitz. Created Officer of the Legion of Honor the March 14th 1806, it was pointed out with the Bataille of Iéna, the Combat of Hoff and the Bataille of Eylau, the February 8th 1807. Named, the February 8th 1807, colonel of cavalry to be useful in the line, it went to take the command of the 26e regiment of dragons on the edges of the Passarge. The June 10th according to, with Heilsberg, it accepted a shot to the right leg, and in spite of its wound, it led itself all the loads of its regiment up to eleven hours of the evening; the 14, it gave evidence of bravery and intelligence to the Bataille of Friedland, and accepted praises on the way in which the 26e regiment of dragons had filled its duty in this day.
Directed on the Spain at the end of 1807, it passed the Bidassoa in November 1808. Affected in the reserve of cavalry of Jean-Baptiste Bessières, it takes part the 10, with the Bataille of Burgos, continued, the 22, the troops of Palafox to Calahorra and, the 23, at the Bataille of Tudela, it put in rout in a procession a column of 8.000 Spaniards, removed to him & parts of gun with their boxes and made him a great number of prisoners.
Passed temporarily under the orders of the marshal Ney, it was pointed out to Calatatayud, and it became the December 11th ordering Legion of honor. During the first months of 1810, it continued without slackening and destroyed the bands which infested the Sierra-Morena. The April 23rd, close to Ignojoza, after having continued and disperses a strong party of insurrectionists, it arrived at the night falling at the end from a procession where it saw fires of an enemy bivouac. Having made put foot at ground with part of its dragons, it charges the Spanish S which, being believed surprised by a many troop, fled in disorder and gave up all their luggage. Confined to Cordoue about May, it was sent in mobile column in the Sierra-Morena and the Estramadure, and demolished several bands of guerillas.
The December 22nd, it accepted the order to go near the marshal Duc of Dalmatie, which then made the investment of the place of Badajoz. During its walk, it met, the 31, with Azuaga, a strong Spanish party which it collapsed and to which it made a great number of prisoner. It then attended the head offices of Olivenza and Badajoz during February and January 1811. The February 19th according to, with the Battle of Gebora, it inserted, with its dragons, a square of 3,000 men, and took 6 pieces of ordnance. The March 5th according to, it was named Brigadier general, and the 25, before to have even received its letter of nomination, it is made kill in Campo-Mayor, the March 25th 1811, by charging against the 23e British Dragons with Beresford to the head with the 26e Dragons. Lord Beresford, who ordered the Anglo-Portuguese cavalry with the business of Campo-Mayor, made bury Chamorin with all the military honors due to his row.
