Vita-cola

Vita-Cola is a Soda containing Cola produces initially in ex- GDR.

Description

The savor of Vita-Cola is described like a cola with a lemon seasoning and fruits. It is appreciably less soft than Afri-Cola, Coca-Cola or Pepsi-Cola.

History

It was in the beginning an imitation of the Coca-Cola product in German Democratic republic (East Germany). It was presented in 1957 as Brauselimonade put Frucht und Kräutergeschmack (in French, “fizzy drink with the savor of fruit and aromatic herbs”) and it formula is always secretly kept (like that of Coca-Cola).

At its apogee, the Vita-Cola was bottled in more than 200 factories. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the businesses of Vita-Cola quickly crumbled and the Western cola marks took its market.

However, with the arrival of the Ostalgie (nostalgia among the Easts Germany for the old days as a German Democratic republic), much of old German products were produced again, Vita-Cola being one of most popular.

The company Thüringer Waldquell (a German company ) obtained from it the rights, the name and the formula. It started to produce Vita-Cola in 1994.
