Visionarium
The Visionarium was an attraction of the type cinema to 360° using the technique Circle-Vision 360° on the topic of Jules Verne presented in the parks Disney. It bears the name of The Timekeeper apart from the France. It closed in France since the end 2004, as of 2002 with Tokyo, and since beginning 2006 in Florida.
The concept and history
Attraction was based on a robot which succeeded in developing a machine to go up time. Helped by its female flying collaborator named Nine-Eye . Its name comes from the nine " yeux" that it had, nine cameras for a circular vision. All starts when, afterwards, to have seen and have listened to Timekeeper, this last invites us to join it in the big room of experimentation, in order to test its last creation.
It sends its machine at the dawn of times with a passage to the Trias where it crosses Dinosaure S. the machine then takes again walk of time but at fast speed. It quickly stops with the Moyen-âge during a battle then at the end it the Middle Ages to see the first flight in the airship of the Montgolfier brothers, then with the Renaissance and explores the workshop of Léonard de Vinci and still with a representation made by Mozart in the palate of Louis XV before reaching the year 1900 with the World Fair of Paris. Timekeeper wishes to indirectly meet its mentors, Jules Verne (Michel Piccoli) and H.G. Wells (Jeremy Irons) which precisely must be found with a conference.
Nine-Eye approaches Jules Verne who clutches himself with the machine and is found wedged in the machine with Nine-Eye. Then begin a great exploration of our time through fabulous landscapes: The St-Michel Mount in the helicopter, is only one of many the destination of Verne: the car and the races on circuit, TGV, aviation with the Airport Charles de Gaulle where it crosses an agent of track incarnated by Gerard Depardieu and discusses in front of a Concorde.
Return to the house of the Large palace during the World Fair, Jules Verne changed opinion on the voyages in time and when Wells crosses it they leave together to begin their conference on the future " probable".
Timekeeper then proposes with several people in the room to take part in a short passage in the future, thus, you could perhaps be selected…. Whereas Nine-Eye begins its exploration of the future to the top of Paris with its " happy élus" , a flying car joined it: Verne and Wells are on board. Lastly, a Reinastella occupied by the visitors, emerges and starts with the quarter of turn to go to explore the future… This car leaves the services of design of Renault and a specimen life size was presented in front of the French attraction of 1992 to 2002, year when Renault stopped its partnership.
The French original version was cut down by several scenes at the time of its export in the United States then in Japan. The scenes of the airship, the overflights of the French coasts and the dialog with Gerard Depardieu were thus cut. A scene showing the town of New York however was added to the American version.

Various attractions
Attraction was never built with Disneyland although plans included it in the park WestCOT under the name From Time to Time then for the restoration of Tomorrowland in 1998. The project of park having been cancelled, the reason of nonconstruction in Tomorrowland was that the room designed to accommodate film was to be useful for the queue of the attraction Rocket Rods , which was a total failure.
Disneyland Paris
The Visionarium was an attraction on the topic of Jules Verne which closed his doors in September 2004 to leave room to Buzz Lightyear' S Laser Blast, opened the April 8th 2006.
This attraction, single in the Disney parks, was present since the opening of the park. It was a cinema in 360°, approximately 15 min, which made travel in time, thanks to the invention of the robot Timekeeper (an Audio-animatronic very developed). Shortly after its opening, of the copies were born in the Magic Kingdom (under the name of " The Timekeeper") like with Tokyo Disneyland (under the same name).
Progressively of the years, attraction lost interest near the visitors and ended up being forgotten. Attraction was only far from visible by its site, its lack of external decorations, and the will of the direction not to start again attraction commercially (in spite of the centenary of died of Jules Verne the year of closing). The film also remained the same one during more than 10 years. It was unfortunately the angular stone of the topic of Discoveryland, topic which tends to being replaced by discussed the " Tomorrowland".
