History

Virtus was created in 1927. Traditionally club of the middle-class Bolognaise, it is opposed to the Fortitudo Bologna, club representing the working class. The apogee of this competition will take place at the end of the Nineties, when the two enemy formations dominated the Italian tennis shoe. Bologna owes with the cohabitation of these two clubs the nickname of City Tennis shoe.

The Messina years

Initially assistant of 1983 with 1989, Ettore Messina becomes trainer of 1989 to 1993, glanant with the passage 3 titles, but the great period will be that of its return to the head of the team between 1997 and 2002.
