Virtual XI

Virtual XI is an album of the group of heavy metal Iron Maiden left the March 23rd, 1998. It is the second recorded with the singer Blaze Bayley.

This album is that in which the group was further moving away from the guns of the heavy metal and it sounds sometimes more like conventional Rock, except in the instrumental parts. The majority of the songs are slower than with accustomed, the exceptions being " Futureal" and " When two worlds collide" . In spite of these variations, this last album with Blaze Bayley is probably that where it shows best its qualities. The sales were not however with go; the 16th positions reached in the British charts worst is ever reached by an album of the Iron Virgin.

As for the concerts of the preceding album The X Factor , the round according to the exit of Virtual XI was curtailed because of allergies of the singer to certain products used on scene.

The clip of " The Angel and the Gambler" was carried out with a version alas shortened of the song. The video was carried out entirely in synthesized images, in an extraterrestrial world with aliens of variable visual quality. The concept, in particular the passage where Blaze moves towards the bar with a brown hat and a long jacket evokes the small pocket of " Stranger in has Strange Land" and more generally all the album Somewhere in Time .
