Virtual Telecommunications Method Access

VTAM: Virtual Telecommunications Access Method is one of the components of the Operating system Z/OS implemented by IBM on its great systems.

This Access method directed network allows the dialog between various active elements on the system. These elements can be applications (programs) or elements of the network (final, lines, controllers, hosts). The network part loses of its importance these last years, because of the arrival of TCP/IP. The 3745, communication front-end processors, are little by little abandoned with the profit of other technologies not owners.
