Viridovix
Viridovix was the chief of the Unelles, Gallic Peuple which faced the legion S of César at the time of the Roman conquest between 58 and 51 before J. - C.
It ensured the command of the army united that its civitas opposed, with that of the Lexoviens and the Aulerques Éburovices, with the legate Quintus Titurius Sabinus at the time of the battle of Vernix in -56.
To read the War of Gaules, Viridovix réfréner the enthusiasm of its troops did not know and was overcome by an adversary which led the Gallic ones to fight when and where it awaited them, with the foot of the Roman Castrum.
The name Viridovix probably means, in Gaulois, " combatant ( vix, vicos ) powerful ( virido ) "
