Virginia Satir , born the June 26th 1916 and deceased the September 10th 1988 with the the United States, remarkable, known psychotherapist particularly for its approach of the family Therapy, of which the most known books are: Unites Family Therapy (1964), Peoplemaking (1972) and The New Peoplemaking (1988).

Biography

Diplomas:
1936 BA university of Wisconsin-Milwaukee;
1948 MY, university of Chicago;
1978 honorary doctorate in social sciences, university of Wisconsin.
It also accepted several other honorary doctorates of which one of the Vocational school of the psychological examinations (Professional School off Psychological Studies), in 1986.

Formative family therapeutists, it creates, in November 1958, with Donald deAvila Jackson and Jules Riskin, the team of Mental Research Institut (MRI), more known under the name of Ecole of Palo Alto. Turned towards the clinical research and the training of therapeutists, the team aims to try to apply to the field of psychotherapy the discoveries to the Communication made with Gregory Bateson. In 1961, Paul Watzlawick joined the team in company of Jay Halley and John H. Weakland and fits thus in the movement Systémique of Gregory Bateson. This group had an aim of research very broad. Satir dealt specifically of the family and the formation. It leaves the MRI in 1968 to become the first director of the center of Esalen.

Virginia Satir, recognized like charismatic and particularly gifted in its field per many its fellow-members, is one of the three principal therapeutists, with Milton Erickson and Fritz Perls, whose practice was modelled to create the P.N.L. (Programming neuro-linguistics).
