Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd (Code AITA: VS ; Code ICAO: VIR ) is a British Airline company group Virgin.
Before being bought by the group of Richard Branson, it was called British Atlantic Airways and carried out the service road of the Falkland Islands since 1982. As of its repurchase in 1984, it launches out in the transatlantic flights between New York and London.
Today, it is the second long-distance company of the the United Kingdom behind British Airways. Its fleet is made up of Boeing 747 and Airbus A340 (1st to do it).
Singapore Airlines control 49% of the shares of Virgin Atlantic.
Incidents and accidents
The June 19th 1984, during the final of test of flight CAA before the final purchase, an engine took fire because of an ingestion of bird. The February 8th 2005, in the Airbus A340 -600 on the way since HongKong bound for London, the control panel of the gasoline have engineering problems what caused a dysfunction of transfer between the tanks. The left external engine lost power, and a little later the external engine right also started to lose power until the crew does the transfer manually. The crew deviated towards Amsterdam, or the plane made a landing without problems.
The July 15th 2006, G-VWKD (a Airbus A340 -600), during the International takeoff of HongKong Airport, was damaged by a Tailstrike and had to release fuel in the airspace of HongKong and to return to the airport for repairs. G-VMEG (another A340-600) was sent to ensure the transport of the passengers.

VS63 was rescheduled for the following day and all 352 passengers were offered hotel accommodating.
