Virgil Griffith

Virgil Griffith (born in 1983), also known under the pseudo Romanpoet , is a American Hacker , known for its implication in 2003 in a lawsuit with the American editor of software Blackboard, of which he threatened to publicly expose the gaps of his system.

It gained an international repute in 2007 by creating Wikiscanner, a scanner for Wikipédia, making it possible to analyze the anonymous editions of IP.

August 14th, 2007, Wired Magazine announces the exit of this scanner, which makes it possible to determine IP addresses of the contributors and especially to identify to which companies they belong.

Thus a certain number of companies and personalities would handle the articles with regard to them. According to BBC, anonymous contributions on the Democratic party, the CIA, the the Vatican and the firm Diebold would have been made starting from computers located in the enclosure of these various organizations or companies.
