Viracocha INCA

Viracocha eighth emperor INCA (v. 1400-1438). Named in its childhood Hatun Tupac, he is the son of Yaguar Guaca INCA and Mama Chicya Qoya

It is supposed that its reign starts about 1400. It assoit the INCA domination in a radius of 40 kilometers around Cuzco.

Its reign sees the final confrontation with the powerful tribe of the Chancas. But the chroniclers are divided on his role, some like INCA Garcilaso of Vega, tells that his/her father Yahuar Huacac, in front of the projection of the opposing armies, finds refuge in the citadel of Calca. One of its sons, Viracocha INCA, thus named because of a vision which it would have had of the god INCA Viracocha, mobilizes the allied tribes and puts Chancas in rout. It deposits his father and reinforces the capacity of Incas on the high plateaus. Others like Pedro Cieza de León or Juan de Betanzos thinks that it is Viracocha which east flees and which it is his/her son Pachacuti Yupanqui who beats Chancas.

He marries Mama Runtu Qoya, which gives him:

  • Inqa Roqa

  • Tupaq Yupanqui
  • Kusi Yupanqui Pachacutec
  • Qapaq Yupanqui
