Ten years earlier it is in this city than was destroyed the Mosquée Babur by Hindus because it was on the place of an old temple in memory of Rāma destroys at the time of the preceding Moslem conquests in India, and also the place of its birth.
In the days and the weeks which followed, between 800 and 2.000 people were killed in Gujarat, which represents one of the intercommunity violences most fatal of the India since its independence. The majority of the people who were tuéés, or violated, are Moslem.
It is generally allowed that the fire started violences which followed. The criminal origin or accidental of fire is a crucial point. Indeed, for the Hindu sympatisants, they are the Moslem extremists who started the fire. A board of inquiry carried out by judge Justice Banerjee supports in an intermediate report/ratio the version of an accident. The impartiality of this report/ratio is however prone to guarantee.
In addition the responsibility of the central government of the state of Gujarat directed by Narendra Modi - member of the BJP - is directly blamed by the National Commission for the Human rights.
Following the fire of the train a violence of a brutality without precedent aiming at the Muslim community was propagated in the state of Gujarat during the three months which followed. The Indian nationalist groups are shown to have had a role of planning of these violences.
The government, the administration and the police force of State were also blamed not to have taken sufficient measurements to protect from the civilians and to have taken an active part in violences in certain cases. Following the massacres 140.000 people would have left their houses.
