The Alto is a student's cover-chief carried by the students of the ISC St Louis to Brussels.
In 1988, appeared a bizarrery in the dichotomic universe of the Penne and the cap: the viola.
Born in a school resulting from university Faculties St Louis from Brussels (establishment attached to UCL), and having its administrative offices in the same building, it is the fruit of a consensus. The baptized students wanting to create the ECA come all from the baptisms of ULB.
The problem of the cover-chief arises as of the first year: the baptisms having taken place by students of the ULB, the port of the warp end seemed obvious. However, the direction of the school refused this free-exaministe symbol , not for its values, but for its anti-calottin side.
After negotiation, (it is as much inconceivable for students of the ULB to baptize caps) it was decided than the students baptized by the committee of HEC St Louis (become ISC thereafter) would carry the viola: a gray fabric stone-block clearly. The circular ribbon of the viola should have been orange grogram, but the visual side would have suffered from it. The committee of the time thus decided to place red velvet.
For baptized of the viola, this one incarnates the respect of the student's folklores, and the meeting of the two principal folklores of Brussels: the warp end and the cap. The symbolic system of the Viola does not preach, but represents the tolerance. Its form points out the cap, its anatomy is similar to the warp end. Its color, neither black, nor white, is also a recall of its ideology.
Started from a bad reason, it was created near its baptized philosophy not stripped of interest.
The viola was well accommodated with the UCL, but not too with the ULB in the first years, which saw in him only camouflaged calottins.
Three years later, whereas the tensions were dissipated and the glances of the direction turned elsewhere, the President of Baptême Kiwi made publish in the Belgian monitor the permission to add the visor on the viola. To in no case, the astrakhan was not allowed there. Since then, the use added the visor systematically, the committees not raising even more the question with the blue ones.
In the facts, the viola is generally presented as a warp end whose fabric is gray.
It is only in 1995 that the viola was accepted and even accommodated within the Polytechnic Guild.
In the neighborhoods of 1995, the House of the Cap was in gray felt stock shortage clearly. The viola became gray mouse. Towards the end of the year 1990, the tariffs and the quality of this last house not satisfying more the students of the ECA, those migrated towards the House Dhaenens - Lammens & Co.

Following the meeting of ISC Saint-Louis and the ICHEC, the succession of the viola was posed. Since 2003, the vice-chancellor of ICHEC made prohibition at the ECA to make the turn of the audiences, thus condemning the viola has a probable disappearance.
Some students and old wanted to found a student's order for the promotion of the viola, and to allow him to survive apart from a school.
Studentissime Ordre of the Proud Viola had been born. Unfortunately, of the dissentions between one of its members, and the founding members about the Sock, which vleckait people deserving of the folklore of the viola, pushed the committee of the ECA to reject the SOAF.
The SOAF disappeared in the facts after one year from existence, in order not to poke the problems.
Since then, the viola survives each year, but until when?
