Obtaining

The acetate of vinyl (CH3COO - CH = CH2) is prepared, in general, in vapor phase, while making react a great excess of Acétylène on acetic Acid (200 °C) in the presence of catalysts with the Zinc and the Cadmium). One obtains a colorless liquid with very penetrating odor which is not polymerized in Polyacétate of vinyl (PVAC) only in the presence of catalysts and gives very stable hard solids to heat. It can be copolymerized with others vinyl compounds or others Monomère S.

Uses

The polyvinyl acetate, in solution in various solvents, is used like Adhésif and in the Peinture S with fast drying. By Saponification of the vinyl polyacétate, one prepares the polyvinyl Alcool, very much used like raw material for Adhésif S and like agent of completion for industry Textile and the industry of the Papier.

The Colle S of vinyl acetate are appropriate perfectly for the joining of papers, fabrics, the wood agglomerates, the Abrasif S and the Verre when they are used in solution. There exists of different derived from less importance such as the polyvinyl acétochlorures, Acétal S and the polyvinyl ether S.
