In 1979, Khosla founds Sun Microsystems with Scott McNealy, Andy Bechtolsheim and Bill Joy. Having joined Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers in 1984, it leaves Sun in 1985 to devote itself to its career of investor. In 2004, it founded its own firm, Khosla Ventures.
