Vinje

Vinje is a commune of Norway, located in the county ( fylke ) of the Telemark. It borders the communes of Nore and Uvdal in north, Tinn and Seljord in the east, Suldal, Odda and Ullensvang in the west.

Vinje is the only Norwegian commune which borders four county S ( fylker ).

Demography

Vinje counts 3.684 inhabitants at January 1st, 2007.

Geography

Vinje extends on a surface from 3.117 km. Its culminating point is Nupsegga (1 674 m).

Part of common belongs to the national park of Hardangervidda.

Administration

The mayor of Vinje is Mr Arne Vinje (SV - Extreme left).

Economy

The principal employer of Vinje is the town hall. Nearly 40% of the active population works for the administration.
