The Vin of the Loire gathers in fact several wine-producing areas. The Loire Valley produces wines white dry, medium dry, marrowy even liqueur-like, generally light red wines and rosy wines. One also finds many wines effervescent. All these areas are located at the edge of the the Loire and of its Affluent S.

The principal type of vines used in the Loire Valley are the Sauvignon and the Chenin for the white wines and the type of vine muscadet wine for name Muscadet as well as the Gamay and the frank cabernet for the red wines.

Vineyards of Anjou and Saumur

This viticultural area, follows the valley-of-Loire and extends on 140 km ², between Saumur, Angers, Ancenis and Thouars.

In Anjou, the type of vines most used for the production of wines white is the Chenin and the Sauvignon. The red wines are containing frank Cabernet and/or of Cabernet-Sauvignon, although for name Sancerre only the black Pinot is used. The rosy wines, as for them, result from the Grolleau, the frank Cabernet, the Sauvignon Cabernet and the Gamay.

Nantes vineyards

The vineyard of the Nantes Country extends to the south and the east from Nantes, of the shores of the Atlantic Ocean with Ancenis on the south of the department of Loire-Atlantique. It overflows a little on the department of the Vendée.

Vineyards of Touraine

The vineyard of Touraine extends on the edges from the Loire. The principal unit extends from the doors of Saumur to Orleans. This vineyard extends on 6 departments: the Indre, the Indre-et-Loire, the Loir-et-Cher, the Loiret, the the Sarthe and the Vienna.

The white wines result from three type of vines: the white Pineau of the Loire, the Sauvignon and the Alpine laburnum. In red, one finds the frank Cabernet, the Cabernet-Sauvignon, the Grolleau and the Pineau d' Aunis.

Vineyards of Orléanais

The vineyards of Orléanais are close to those of Touraine. Their qualities are recognized since 2006 by the Name of Controlled origin.

Vineyards of Heart-of-France

It is a whole of small soils located along the Loire at the north of the Massif Central. Rather sparse, it extends on seven departments: the To combine (in the south Mills), the Expensive, the Indre, the the Loire (in the west of the the Loire), the Loiret, the Nievre and the Puy-de-Dôme (around Clermont-Ferrand).

The type of vines used are the Gamay and the black Pinot in red. For the white, the chardonnay is used for coast-in Auvergne while the saint-pourçain is vinified starting from Tressalier (50% maximum), of Aligoté, Sauvignon and chardonnay.
