Vineyard of the High-Medoc

The vineyard of the High Medoc is located in the Bordelais. Classified AOC by the decree of the November 14th 1936 (modified by that of March 24th, 1998), it covers a surface of approximately 4.680 hectares (in 2005) for an average production of 250.000 hl. It is vastest of names of the Medoc. It is located at the north of Bordeaux on left bank of the the Gironde. It extends on the 29 communes from Blanquefort, the Taillan-Medoc, Parempuyre, the Pian-Medoc, Ludon-Medoc, Macau, Arsac, Labarde, Cantenac, Margaux, Avensan, Castelnau, Soussans, Arcins, Moulis-in-Medoc, Listrac-Medoc, Lamarque, Cussac, Saint-Laurent-Medoc, Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, Pauillac, Saint-Saver, Cissac-Medoc, Saint-Estèphe, Vertheuil and Saint-Seurin-with-Cadourne.

Encépagement for the AOC High Medoc is that required for name Médoc, therefore Cabernet-sauvignon, frank Cabernet, Carménère, Merlot, Petit verdot and Malbec.

The maximum Rendement authorized with the Hectare is of 48 hl / ha, for an output stop of 66 hl/ha. The Densité of plantation must be 6500 to 10.000 pieds/ha.
