The vineyard of Gevrey-Chambertin is a prestigious Vignoble of Coast-in Or in Burgundy

Geographical location

The vineyard extends on the communes from Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon between Morey-Saint-Denis and Fixin on the Route from the Great wines in the Côtes from Nights, to 15 km in the south of Dijon and 15km in the north of Nuits-Saint-Georges

Prestige

The vineyard of Gevrey-Chambertin is one of most prestigious Vignoble of Burgundy and even of the French and world vineyard

It all alone produces with him 8 of the 32 great wines AOC of the Vignoble of Burgundy:

  • Chambertin, Chambertin-Close-with-Bèze, Vault-Chambertin, Charms-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, Morello cherries-Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Mazoyères-Chambertin, Ruchottes-Chambertin

Soils

With Gevrey-Chambertin, an outcrop begins from " limestone of Prémeaux ". This " veine" continues on a synclinal level until Premeaux-Prissey. It is on this geological unit that one finds the two great wines historical of Gevrey: Chambertin and Chambertin-Close-with-Bèze (two only great wines to have had right to place the name of " Chambertin " in first).

The vineyard of Gevrey is rolled up around these two vintages: the other great wines surround them and are them-even surrounded of the first vintages (and of the forest in the east). Name village is located at the west below the vintages while on the slopes exposed well of the combe of Lavaux different the first vintages of Gevrey-Chambertin are planted.

It extends on a little more than 12,9 Hectare S.

Wine making

The totality of the wine production of Gevrey-Chambertin is vinified only in red Wine.

Type of vines

The Cépage S cultivated are:
  • Pinot beurot (or pinot gray) with maximum height of 15%
  • black Pinot and Pinot liébault

The wines of Gevrey-Chambertin are wines of long guard especially for the first and great wines (10 to 20 years and more for the exceptions and according to the Millésime)

  • young Wine: between 12 and 14°,
  • older Wine: between 15 and 16°.
