Vine growing in New Zealand
Introduced in 1819, the vine is a marginal culture in the country. In 1995, 185 producers controlled 85% of a production of 560.000 hl vinified.
Climate: Omnipresent influence of the Pacific Ocean; the vines developed in the east of the mountains to the shelter of the wet wind of the west.
