Vincou

Vincou is a French river, the North-West of the the Limousin, abundant affluent of the Gartempe (left bank), and thus tributary of a tributary of the Vienna. It has a 50 km length and drains a surface of 290 km ². Its confluence is on the level of the locality of Peyrat-with-Bellac, village of the department of the High-Vienna.

Vincou, born in the mounts of Ambazac, shows the characteristics of a river of mountain. It receives many small affluents resulting from the mounts from Fair or mounts of Ambazac, which all contribute to give him an abundant flow, in spite of the smallness of its catchment area. It is, after Anglin, the most important affluent of Gartempe.

It sprinkles the town of Bellac.

Hydrology

The annual medium flow of Vincou with Bellac locality very close to its confluence, is of 3,53 m ³ a second.

The river presents the seasonal fluctuations of flow usual of the rivers of the the Limousin, with winter risings from December to March included, and low-water of be-beginning of autumn, July to October.

In period of low water level, the VCN3 can fall until 0,20 m ³, which is rather weak. Let us recall that the VCN3 is the past minimal quantity or minimal flow over three days consecutive.

The risings can be rather important. The QIX 2 of the river are worth 29 m ³, while the QIX 5 reached 44 m ³ a second. They are the flows calculated for a biennial and quinquennial rising. The QIX 10, or calculated flow of decennial rising, is of 54 m ³ a second (see note). That means that every two years, Sows it should statistically have a rising of about 11 m ³ a second, and that, always statistically, every ten years, a rising of 19 m ³ must occur.

The Lame of water past in the basin of Vincou is of 397 millimetres annually, which is rather high. The specific Débit (Qsp) is assembled at 12,6 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
