Vincent Ségal

Vincent Ségal , is a violoncellist French born in 1967 with Rheims.

Biography

Vincent Ségal studies in musical classes as of the elementary school. He integrates the academy of Rheims, then the conservatory of Lyon, where he obtains a first price. In 1986, it profits from a purse to study in Banff Fine Art School (with Banff, Canada). Of return in France, it settles in Paris where it starts to multiply the musical experiments with musicians of all horizons (traditional initially, and contemporary, but also and more and more jazz, rock'n'roll, African musics,…) without the least design of a possible barrier. Guest with the the United States for particper with the first album of the group Papa' S Culture , it leaves then in round with Chuck Brown and the P-Funk All Stars.

He plays with the route and from time to time with the intercontemporain unit (electric solo of cello of professor bad trip of Fausto Romitelli). Moreover, he plays as well of the acoustic violoncello as electric. That led it to take part in the albums of many artists, like Elvis Costello, Cesaria Evora, Blackalicious, Carlinhos Brown or Alexandre Desplat (B.O of Lust Caution, a Very Discrete Hero, The Painted Veil)]], and to play on scene with Dad Wemba, Naná Vasconcelos, or in duet with Doudou Diaye Pink junior, and in trio with the trombonist of jazz Glenn Ferris, trio which records three discs.

In 1996, it takes part in the Olympic Gramofon, group of Julien Lourau in which it meets Cyril Atef with which it founds shortly after their famous duet Bumcello , that them friendly Vic Moan describes as “industrial music for Third World country”.

He collaborates with Matthieu Chedid ( - m ) as of the first album of this last, the Baptism in 1997.

In 2002, it leaves its first album, T-Bone Guarnerius , then Cello (solo) in 2007.
