Vincent Peillon

Vincent Peillon is a Politician French, born on July 7th, 1960 with Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine).

Incorporated and Doctor in Philosophy, Vincent Peillon is professor of 1984 with 1997, when he is elected appointed Sum.

He enters in 1992 to the cabinet of Henri Emmanuelli then President of the National Assembly then becomes secretary of the group of the experts of the PS the following year.

He presents motion 2 to the congress of Liévin in 1994, at the side of Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Christophe Clergeau but loses against the motion of Henri Emmanuelli, supported by almost the whole of hiérarques of the party. He becomes however member of the national office and delegated near the first secretary, Lionel Jospin of 1995 with 1997. In 1997, it is elected appointed Somme, in the third district (area of the Vimeu). During its legislative mandate, he will be in particular president with Arnaud Montebourg of the parliamentary mission of investigation on the Money laundering in Europe. He in parallel becomes national secretary being studied of the Socialist party of 1997 with 2000, date on which he becomes spokesperson of the Party under the direction of François Holland.

In 2002, following a very violent campaign, where hunters on several occasions attack it physically, it loses its seat of Deputy (it will obtain 47,54% with the second turn).

Learning the lessons of April 21st 2002 and elimination with the first turn of the presidential election of Lionel Jospin, it resigns of the station of spokesperson to create a renovating current within the PS, the Nouveau Socialist party NPS.

In October 2002, the daily newspaper Libération publishes a platform entitled thus For a new socialist party signed by Vincent Peillon, Arnaud Montebourg and Julien Dray. It is the title of this platform which will give its name to the current Nouveau socialist party which will present a motion to the congress of Dijon (2003) and to that of Mans (2005).

He is elected in 2003, first secretary of the socialist federation of the Somme, function which he had already occupied of 1997 with 2000.

European Deputy since June 2004.

In 2005, it defends Not with the TCE.

November 20th, 2005, during the congress of the Socialist party in Mans, he votes with Benoît Hamon and Henri Emmanuelli the approval of the general synthesis in the name of motion 5 of the New socialist party, the other leader of his current, Arnaud Montebourg, abstaining from.

Whereas the summer school of the fine Socialist party with La Rochelle August 2006 opens, it expresses its personal support for Ségolène Royal for the nomination of the Party for the presidential one; a position which divides the members of the current Nouveau Socialist party of which it is Co-aminateur with Benoît Hamon and Henri Emmanuelli.

It is during the presidential campaign of 2007, one of the three spokesperson of Ségolène Royal.

It misses by 143 votes (49,89%) the reconquest of the third district of the Sum.

Within the framework of the various debates on the restoration of the Socialist party launched since June 2007, Vincent Peillon creates the institute Edgar Quinet in September 2007, in order to obtain a tool of reflection and debate. http://www.edgarquinet.fr/
