Vincent Ferrier , Dominican priest (Valencian Sant Vicent To shoe) Spanish born in 1350 close to Valence (Spain), celebrates for its public preachings.

Its charisma and its popular influence are such as it becomes a key character in the disorders politico-monks related to the Great Schism of Occident. Near to Pedro de Luna, then cardinal and future Benoit XIII, Vincent Ferrier adopts the papacy of Avignon first of all, rejecting the legitimacy of Urbain VI in his treaty Of moderno ecclesiae schismate . He becomes thereafter confessor of Benoît XIII, from now on antipape and emblematic figure of resistance to Rome. But, in a preoccupation with a union of the Church, it ends up being resigned to give up the cause of Benoit to recognize the Roman pope. Its official act of renunciation intervenes in 1416, at the time where the Concile of Constancy gets busy to put an end to the Schism.

Untiring preacher and evangelist of Europe during twenty years, of 1399 with its death, he traverses Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and goes even as far as Scotland. He is often accompanied by an impressive quantity disciples, so much so that he must primarily preach in external big spaces to be able to be heard of crowd.
