The Viminal ( Viminalis Parcel ) is smallest of the Seven hills of Rome, being prolonged in south-east to join the Esquilin. It is separated from the Cispius in south-east by the valley crossed by the Vicus Patricius , and from the Quirinal in the North-West by another valley. It is a spit of land of approximately 700 meters length.
The name of the hill derives from vimina (meaning wicker), which developed on the hill.
Viminal was included in the sixth area of Auguste VI - Alta Semita . This hill was the least important of the Seven hills of Rome, few monuments were built.
The emperor Dioclétien made there build largest thermal baths of Rome.
