Villiers-Charlemagne is a common French, located in the department of the Mayenne and the area Pays of the Loire. The inhabitants of this commune are Caropolitains and Caropolitaines.
Geography
Located between Laval and Castle-Gontier, Villiers-Charlemagne is in 50 kms of Angers to 65 kms of Mans with 78 kms of Rennes to 245 kms of Paris to 405 kms of Lille.
History

Our commune was established in the antique forest of Boëria (from where Bouëre came) which extended from banks of the Sarthe at the river banks " Mayenne". Certain historians claim that Charlemagne came in Villiers first once towards 778, at the time to raise a forwarding against the revolted Basque. This place rained to him, it was struck of its position the Breton border, close to the river, and with the extreme limit of its states of Maine and Anjou; also formed it the project to build in this place a fortress to keep the passages of Mayenne and to supervise the Breton ones.
Why the name of Charlemagne come does to be added to that of Villiers?

A team of proximity installation itself since the installation of the new parish. Villiers kept his rural identity in spite of the enlargement of his borough. In 20 years the population passed from 700 to more than 1000 inhabitants.
