Villiers-Adam
Villiers-Adam is a common French, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Villieradamois (be).
Geography
The commune is located at the west of a named cultivated depression Vallée of Chauvry, between the forests of Isle-Adam in north and of Montmorency in the south, to about thirty kilometers in the north of Paris.The communes bordering are Isle-Adam, Nerville-the-Forest, Montsoult, Chauvry, Béthemont-the-Forest, Taverny, Frépillon, Méry-on-Oise and Mériel.
Climate
Villiers-Adam, like all the Ile-de-France, is subjected to a degraded oceanic Climat. He intramurally is different from the climate of Paris by a variation in temperature of a few degrees, particularly notable at daybreak, and which tends to be accentuated with the passing of years. This variation, of 2° on average but which can reach 8° by one night clear and a weak Vent, is explained by the urban density which increases the temperature in the middle of the agglomeration. The annual average temperature is of 11°C, the month more the cold is January with +4°C; the hottest months are July and August with +19°C (average day laborer).
Heraldic
History
At the beginning of the 12th century of the ecclesiastical documents attest existence of a village known under the name of Villari Adam . The history of the village is closely related to that of the founded Notre-Dame abbey of the Valley around 1125. The first lord of the village is the knight Adam, Connétable of France under the reign of Philippe I {{er}}, and first known lord of Isle-Adam. He would have made gird the village of walls.The Saint-Sulpice church of style romano-Gothic was set up at the 13th century then rebuilt mainly at the 16th century.
The village remained throughout the history of small importance centered on the forest agriculture and activities. At the 15th century one counts only one about thirty fires. It is only with the development of the and stone quarries Gypse which are around and under the village that this one takes importance.
Until 1713 the commune of Villiers-Adam still includes/understands the abbey of the Valley and the village of Mériel. At the 18th century the village belongs to the seigniory of prince de Conti At the end of the 19th century the village périclite. It is apart from the great transportation routes (valley of the Oise in the west, flat of France in the east) and the construction of the Railroad keeps it away.
At the 20th century the village finds a little energy under the impulse and with the generosity of sound Maire Aristide Quillet. This one transforms the town planning of the commune, made there build many houses of Alsatian style.

Monuments and places of visit
The church Saint-Sulpice is dedicated to the bishop of Bourges and was the subject of a rebuilding starting from 1490. Only the tower Clocher is a vestige of the primitive building. Nevertheless, the Nef was not completed, probably because of the wars of religion particularly devastators in the area. The polygonal chorus is of Gothic style, it shelters beautiful a monumental Retable 17th century representative of the Counter-Reformation, it representing in the center a crucifixion, framed of two statues of the Vierge and of Saint Sulpice. The stained glasses date from the 19th century. The building contains a Lutrin out of polychrome wood of the 18th century, which would come from the abbey of the Valley. This piece of furniture located in the chorus carries the liturgical books of songs. the eagle which it comprises at its top points out to the symbol of Jean the evangelist. One can sometimes admire a beautiful wood statue of the 17th century representing holy Sebastien, centurion of the imperial guard converted to Christianity, owner of the archers. The church was classified historic building in 1927.The house of Benjamin-Godard is located in the street which bears its name. Small building with half-timberings of the 19th century, it was the place where lived the author of the lullaby Jocelyn and of the verses of Vivandière (1849 - 1895). A plate with its memory was affixed on the house at the time of a ceremony chaired by the mayor Aristide Quillet on June 25th 1933.
Vestige of local industry, old plaster works functioned until in the Années 1920.
