History

In 1860, the archaeological discoveries put at the day a Gallic hamlet and fragments of pottery. The presence of a Menhir on the site also testifies to one Neolithic human activity at the time .

At the 12th century, monks clearers are installed on the particularly wooded site and create the village called Villa Nova . At that time, the grounds of Villeneuve are possession of the abbey Saint-Victor. Many serfs work in particular with the vine and it is only in 1248 that Saint Louis releases them from their yoke.

The first owner of Villeneuve seems to be Jean d' Ays to whom them grounds are given by the king Philippe Beautiful the. Yielded a time to the order of the Carthusian monk, the field is bought in 1596 by Matthieu Marcel, which becomes first lord of Villeneuve.

At the 17th century, Guillaume of Squirrel fur undertakes the construction of a first castle. He has the goods of the seigniory until in 1683, date on which Claude the Furrier goes purchaser from there. High-ranking person of the State (since he is the successor of Colbert for the management of finances of Louis XIV), he finishes construction of what will be the castle the Furrier. The field remains in the same family until in 1734.

On this date, it is Nicolas de Ségur who become the new lord of Villeneuve-the-King until Louis XV decides to repurchase to him his grounds to increase his field of Choisy-the-King, field of hunting, and to establish a pheasantry there. The seigniory itself is bought in 1765 per Alexandre Gautier de Vinfrais, General inspector of huntings of the Game preserve of Louvre and officer of the Constabulary. Sometimes Louis XVI will come to drive out in these places, until the Révolution.

During the War of 1870, the city is occupied by the Prussian army which encircles the capital and the general Von Tümpling establishes his staff with the castle of the Abbey (old field of the Carthusian monks).

The end of the 19th century is marked by a policy of urbanization having for goal to attract the Parisian population. For example, the allotment of 102 hectares of the park of the Pheasantry undertaken as of 1898.

The first station of Villeneuve the King goes back to 1885 and is in fact the current station of Orly-city. Built on the strategic line of belt Valenton/Massy, near to the Highland and in extreme cases to the two communes, it bears the name of " Orly-Villeneuve Roi". It is initially served by the trains of belt, then by the trains of PO since Austerlitz. At the request of the inhabitants of the new allotments, In March 1914, a new station called " Villeneuve the King it Faisanderie" is inaugurated on the line of Juvisy. (The old station loses the Villeneuve mention then the King and the news will lose much later the mention the Pheasantry).

After the First World War, the cultivable grounds is they also divided for construction, and this, significantly. As from this time, the population of the city grows quickly, while the territory of Villeneuve is seen encroached little by little by construction then the extension of the camp of aviation of Orly.

The disappearance of the large farms marks the end of the exploitations, in particular cereal and wine. Villeneuve-the-king enters the industrial era. They are factories like the company of the sand pits Tufted duck-Corvol or the Building sites of the High-Seine which take over farm and attract with them a strong working population, including one great part is of Breton origin. The last great phase of settlement of the city is in the Années 1950 and the Années 1960.
