Villeneuve-sur-Yonne is a common French, located in the department of the Yonne and the area Burgundy located at 140 km at the south-east of Paris.
Its inhabitants is called the Villeneuviens and the Villeneuviennes .

Villeneuve-sur-Yonne was born from the will of the king Louis VII the Young person who wished, in 1163, to protect the limits from the kingdom of France vis-a-vis the Comté of Champagne. Located at the outlet of a ford of the Yonne, ordering the bridge which is built, the city is built with the Roman, on a rigorous squared level, inside protective ramparts, dominated by its majestic church.
