Villeneuve-Saint-Georges is a city of the south-eastern suburbs of Paris. It is located in the Département of the Valley-of-Marne, its inhabitants are Villeneuvois and Villeneuvoises.
Communes bordering: the Vigneux-on-Seine, Montgeron, Crosne, Valenton, Creteil, Choisy-the-King, Orly and Villeneuve-the-King. Villeneuve is divided into 7 districts:
Blandin/Belleplace : district mainly pavillionaire in extreme cases of Montgeron and Crosne where the Inter-commune Hospital of the city is.
Villeneuve-Sorting : its name must with the the marshalling yard, largest of Europe, being next to it. This district, isolated enough from the remainder of the city taking into account its position (the Seine in the West, marshalling yard in the east) shelters one of the last guingettes department as well as the Gare of Villeneuve - Sorting.
the Plate/High of Villeneuve : located at the East of the city on part of the plate of Brie, this part of Villeneuve has a broad panoramic diversity: great whole (Matar Wood/Quoted the SNCF) with the houses cossus while passing by remarkable sites (Castle of Beauregard, Church-Saint-Georges…). One finds there a college general-purpose (François Arago) and the Fort of Villeneuve which shelters a center of Firemen now.
the Valley Saint-Georges : district pavillionaire bordering on Valenton and the departmental park of Willow plantation-Pidoux (8,8 ha).
the Northern District : as its name indicates it, is in the north of the commune near Pompadour and bordering on Valenton in the East. It is mainly made up of great units (Gravels, Sellier…) classified in Disadvantaged urban area but also of houses. This district is currently in great phase of rehabilitation of the structures.
Valley Pompadour : (Villeneuve/Valenton) prolongation of the ZAC of Creteil of the same name. Mainly industrial with large signs (Conforama, Lapeyre…).
The commune is the seat of a great rail junction, with the axis Paris - Lyon, cut with right angle by the Ligne of Large Belt. It there also the deposit of Locomotive S and TGV of the South-east of the Ile-de-France, and the largest station of Sorting of Europe. The city, of a rural aspect before the arrival of the train, saw its history marked by that of the railwaymen, a working community which drew its development.
Villeneuve-saint-Georges is served today by two stations of the RER D: '' Villeneuve-Sorting '' and '' Villeneuve-Saint-Georges ''.
