Villefranche-on-Expensive is a common French, located in the department of Loir-et-Cher and the area Center.

The inhabitants are called francvillois .

Geography

The city is located on the Cher and the Canal of Berry, in edge of the Sologne to ten kilometers in the south of Romorantin-Lanthenay and at score of kilometer in the west of Vierzon. It is with the crossing of the trunk road 76 and secondary road 922.

History

The first mention of the name of the city goes back to 1172 on a charter of Herve First, lord of Vierzon.

In 1833, the two villages of Villefranche and Hospital-commanderie amalgamates.

Villefranche was an important port on the channel of Berry until the middle of the 20th century.
