History
It is in a made donation, in 1097, with Corbeil, in favor of the Abbey of Saint-Martin-of-Fields, which it is, for the first time, question of certain Waldricus, inhabitant of the Villa Crana , étymologiquement the village at the made huts of branches ; there is no doubt that the first dwellings of Villecresnes were built in wood or their edge. Weapons out of polished flint found in 1894 by a farmer in his field, attest that the prehistoric men pressed the ground of Villecresnes.
Before and during the War One hundred Year old, its history is related to that of the abbey of Yerres and on that of Brunoy. Following the Treated of Troyes which delivered the France to the English, silence falls on this area.
Until 1640, the church of Villecresnes was common to Marolles and Mandres; starting from this date, it becomes only devoted to Villecresnes; only its bell-tower of the 13th century remains like witness of the past. The territory of Villecresnes included/understood eight strongholds. Oldest was that of the Hotel of the Gardens , property of the lords of Villecresnes.
It is, in 1777, that Sir, Count de Provence, brother of King Louis XVI, gathered these strongholds while becoming Seigneur of Villecresnes, Cerçay and the Wood of Auteuil. During the Revolution the capacity of Mayor did not even last a year. It is only in 1848 that Villecresnes and Cercay had to them Arbre of Freedom .
During the 19th century and the 20th century, the area was devastated by the Russian in 1814 then by the German in 1870, was saved in 1914 and was devastated in 1940.
The common one started to especially increase with the creation of the railway line in 1875 then after the Second world war, it underwent the strong demand residences that with generated the Baby-boom and the city urbanized instead of the agricultural zones of pre-war period. In 1953 the Gare of Villecresnes was closed (and destroyed in 1994).
The first public school was the school of the Blackbirds which opened during the year 1907.
During the years 1980, a great battle took place between the municipality and the State about the creation of the line TGV on the layout of the old line. The municipality saw its followed claims and a tunnel of 2500 meters, instead of 200 meters envisaged in the beginning, was built because to Villecresnes the train passed in a valley steepsided (like currently with Vincennes) except on the level of old the station, which made it possible to create a green casting between the wood of the Barn and the Ézard mount.

Economy
the Middle Ages at the beginning of the 18th century, the principal activity was agriculture to feed Paris in fresh produce. During the 19th century, the principal activity was the vineyard but declined before the arrival of the train because of the Phylloxéra. The two activities which replaced the wine are the production of firewood for Paris and the production of pinks which donnat an importance in the commune and today the communes bordering and Villecresnes are the third producer of pinks in France. With the Baby-boom, the strong demand in residences made move back the agricultural activity (it does not remain any more that 20 ha of culture on the 300 prewar ha) and at the 20th century the principal economy is the tertiary sector as the center of the Post office between Villecresnes and Mandres-the-Pinks or the Beaumont workshops close to Yerres.
