Villars-on-Ollon is a station of Ski commune of Ollon.

Description

It is located at 1.258 meters of altitude on an exposed natural balcony pouring southern, in the middle of the the Alps of Vaud. One reaches it by a mountain road, long 15 kilometers, since Aigle, or by the train since Bex.

A little more than 3 ' 200 inhabitants reside there at the year. This figure goes up to more: 27000 during the holiday period winter, and: 13000 for the period of summer.

This station shelters international private schools which count more than 800 pupils of the whole world among which the Alpine Collège Beautiful Sun.

At the center of the village is located Villars Palace, old a Swiss Palace rehabilitated in a residence of the Club Med during the winter 1968 - 1969. Its construction goes back to the years 1870 1880. The flanked principal part of the imposing towers, which shelters the rooms, was completed only in 1914. Today classified historic building, the hotel underwent several restorations, in particular during the summer 2000. The de luxe hotel, passed from 3 to 4 three-pronged forks during the summer season 2007 remains one of the village-holidays of winter most famous of Club Med for its country cottage of altitude, the Ibexes, making it possible to the skiers to be restored directly on the tracks.

Villars also has a club of Hockey, the Villars Hockey Club which gathers a little more than 200 players.
