Villarceaux
The field of Villarceaux is located at Chaussy, village of the French Vexin in the Val-d'Oise, to approximately 65 km in the North-West of Paris.
Field “éco-managed” by the District council of Ile-de-France within the framework of 99 years an emphyteutic lease with the Foundation of right Swiss Charles Léopold Mayer for Progress of the Man, owner of the places, it constitutes a single whole by its park of 70 hectares, its gardens Renaissance, its splendid prospects in an undulating site, and the presence of two castles, a manor of the 16th century which sheltered the loves of Louis de Mornay, marquis de Villarceaux, and of Ninon de Lenclos, and a castle of Style Louis XV of the 18th century. Basins and channels are fed by many sources.
Francoise d' Aubigné, future Madam de Maintenon remained there after the death of its first husband, the poet Paul Scarron, with the invitation of her Montchevreuil friends, cousins of the marquis. This one sighed a long time near it and, rather good painter, made of it a large naked portrait, extremely embarassant for it, currently exposed in the dining room Castle, whose living rooms present a beautiful collection of French pieces of furniture of the 18th century.
The field, classified under the historic buildings, belonged to the Regional natural park of French Vexin. It received the label “Remarkable Garden”, decreed by the Ministry for the Culture, in 2004.
Opened with the public from April at October, the field is the framework of cultural spectacles of quality and concerts whose dates are available on the official site.
