Villaputzu is a commune of 4  733 inhabitants of the Province of Cagliari. It belongs to the geographical area of Sarrabus.

History

Important agricultural center, Villaputzu was already attended in age nuragic. Following the multiple incursions Arab S former to the first millenium, Villaputzu moved towards its current site, more hidden sea. The oldest document which attests displacement of the Village goes back to June 29th 1120.

Villaputzu is regarded as the fatherland of the Launeddas since among its fellow-citizens, have could find Masters of this instrument (Efisio Melis, Antonio Lara…). Today still, have can notice the changing of the young generation.
