Village cry
The local government of a village cry (in English Creates ) Quebec is entrusted to a council of band by the Federal law on the Cries and Naskapis of Quebec of 1984. This law replaces, for all the Cris and Naskapis of the officially agreed territory of the North-of-Quebec, the Law on the Indians. Instead of a Indian reserve traditional, the communities shout are localized on reserved Grounds of category IA, as defined by the Convention of the Bay-James and Québécois North of 1975.
The grounds of category IB (territory with the use and the benefit exclusive of the Cries) are managed by municipalities of village cry created by the Québécois Law on the villages cries and the village naskapi of 1978 ; it is about a land corporation. The council of each municipality of village cry is composed of the people who exert the loads of members of the council of the band shouts being competent on the grounds of category IA intended for the community. The council of band thus manages the whole of the grounds of the community.
The village of Oujé-Bougoumou, created under the terms of the agreements occurred between 1988 and 1992 with the government of Quebec and the government of Canada, is a “ autochtone  establishment; ” on provincial grounds (category III). Its council of band always waits to be recognized by the federal legislator on the same basis of the councils of bands of the other communities shout.
The grounds of category II of the Jamésie, where the Cries have exclusive rights of hunting, fishing and of trapping as well as the right to take part in their management tourism forestry development, belong to the municipality of the Bay-James. These grounds are managed jointly by the regional Administration shouts and the municipality of the Bay-James within the framework of the District council of zone of the Bay-James envisaged to the Convention of the Bay-James and Québécois North.
The nine villages cries do all left the Grand the Council of the Cries (Eeyou Istchee) and of the regional Administration shouts (ARC). In the facts, the ARC is directed by the same people as the Large Council of the Cries.
